What do you enjoy about pediatrics? I enjoy the continuity of care of being a pediatrician. It’s rewarding to get to watch children grow over the years, and to get to be a big part of monitoring and promoting their health. I also value the trusting relationships that I get to build with the parents, and the opportunities I get to be there for them.

What do you enjoy doing when your not at work? I enjoy spending time with family. I also enjoy serving at church, doing medical missions and doing community service projects.

Tell us about your family. I’m the second oldest of seven children. My family immigrated from Russia to the United States when I was six years old. Even though we grew up in the northeast, four of my siblings and I made the move to sunny Florida several years ago.

What is an interesting fact about yourself? I have a Youtube channel titled Friendly Kid Doc. It’s full of educational videos on topics which parents frequently have questions about.

Languages spoken. Fluent in English and Russian, intermediate in Spanish.

What’s your favorite trip you’ve ever taken? I went to a remote village in Kenya for a medical mission. At the end of the trip my team and I got to spend two days at the Safari.

Tell us about an interesting experience you had. During the final year of my pediatric residency training, I went to Trujillo Peru for a month. Living with a local host family, spending part of the day at a hospital, and evenings in a classroom setting provided great immersion experiences to practice and expand upon my Spanish language skill set.
